Final Blog
Final Blog…
Now for the time being this will probably be one of my last installments. Unfortunately, my Class is ended and honestly, I'm not sure I have the self-discipline to keep this up… But I will try to make this a special one! For this entry, I will share one of my favorite experiences with the final “Bro-Mate” Winston.
First off, I will start with Winston now this is a hard one to choose because me and Winston somehow have the wildest adventures from seeing bigfoot to finding a secret waterfall or simply making his room a potential bomb but to keep this short I think I will share one of the first times we played frisbee golf. Now up to this point after the many games, I had played with other I had yet to lose in a game of frisbee golf. But Winston has what can only be explained as the lamest super power in the history of the world! Anytime I am good at anything whether it’s a knife throwing game or sport or whatever Winston is either just as good or slightly worse than me, just enough where it's always too close for comfort. Even if it's his first time playing it or doesn’t even know how to play he is always right there with me!! Gosh, I hate it so much!! But anyways so Winston hears I am getting into Frisbee golf and wanted to come with to try it! Now going into this game, I felt pretty confident. He had never played and like I said I had never lost! So, we go to the local course and that day we played two rounds on a nine-hole course and the first game I whooped him no problem the second game, however, was a different story… I was on the top of my game and actually playing one of my better games on this particular course but leave it to Winston... He ended up beating me by one flipping stroke! And don’t tell him this but I was not happy! My perfect streak had finally come to an end… but that next time went (later that week) when we played was so fun!! There wasn’t this pressure to keep my streak alive, the game was more intense and we both played by far our best games and have both gotten significantly better since his first day. Now you’re probably wondering why out of all the stories about Winston this is the one id talk about. I realized that day that because Winston has this ridiculous superpower it always pushes me and challenges me to be better. Without Winston in all those things that he is just as good as me it helps me to grow and work harder, so I come out better in the end. Now, this doesn’t just go for sports and tricks but with life. When we moved in together I thought I was doing alright spiritually but then I saw Winston and realized I had some room to grow and improve! What a blessing it is to have that kid in my life. Oh, and a quick side note, since that day Winston has only beaten me 6 times but hey who’s counting right?
Now if I could quickly share a personal story because this is something I want to remember, and I know if I tell myself ill write it in my journal later it will never happen so ill do it on here!
This past Saturday was General Conference and in the first session, we had what is called a Solemn Assembly where the new president of the church is sustained by each quorum and group in the church. And as I was watching this I was just lying in my bed by myself (because there is no way I'm getting out of bed at 10AM on a Saturday) and they asked no matter where you are to stand and sustain the president when you asked too and I know it sounds like a small thing but at first I debated whether or not to stand because I was by myself and it was cold and I could just lay there and it wouldn’t make a difference but when They called for the Elders of the church to stand I decided to stand and as I stood there and sustained President Nelson as the new president and Prophet of the church with the only other witnesses being God and the angles in heaven, the Spirit of God filled my room and confirmed not only that President truly was called of God but the truthfulness of this gospel and great church. “Prophets don’t stand between us and God, rather they stand next to us and point us to God”
